There is a big difference between the GFL1 and GFL2, and if Darius Outlaw comes back to Darmstadt, they are instant competitors for the GFL2 South title. They are a very young team and need a veteran QB, and there will be none better in the GFL2 next season than Darius Outlaw. In fact, Darius showed he was still a very capable QB in the Relegation series with Plattling. You have to wonder what Darius could have done last season with an OL and WR's, he was a 1-man show for much of the season!

Wiesbaden is still too strong in the end and will play a relegation series verses hmmmmmmmmmmm, Weinheim and relegate to the GFL1.

wait and see...

wenn Darius bleibt, wovon ich ausgehe, dann wird Darmstadt ein ordentliches Jahr spielen und abgerechnet wird am Ende der Saison!

Hey Muffi - Outlaw would have been better than any other QB in the GFL2 last season but Hazel in Plattling including Kattre in Franken. We can resume this conversation in 4 months when we know what everyone has, but Wiesbaden is not going with an A QB, Stuttgart has Lindsey, the rest will have a tough time finding one better than Outlaw!

The O-Line in Weinheim is strong and will get better. They have full grown men out there. Linebackers in the 2nd league are much slower than the first leaguers. Danny would skate all over them like he can first all along with noone stretching the field for him. Plus, you actually think that Weinheim will be on the bottom of the Totum Pole in the South when we almost beat Marburg last year? Do you really know football dude? You think Halle is going to beat Weinheim twice, or Plattling? Everyseason there is a chance for whoever in the South. Everyone can catch a loss in the South on their schedule. See what you say round mid season.

Hey FunCrush, the one thing Wiesbaden could do Defensively was stop the run. The DL in Wiesbaden is as good as 75% of the GFL1. The same can be said of Wiesbaden's Linebackers. Where we were exposed last season was in stopping the pass, and this is 0 threat from Weinheim, with or without an A WR. At least Wiesbaden has 3 respectable German QB's, Weinheim 0.

Yeah, Weinheim this, and Weinheim that, Wiesbaden had the same record when Weinheim relegated to the GFL, they just won off head to head where the series was split. All Weinheim has done the past 2 seasons is kill time, never fielding a GFL1 respectable squad. They were beat twice by the HBD, the #5 seed in the GFLN, they were beat twice by GFL newcomer Munich, and barely escaped over Darmstadt 29-15. 8-18 in 2 seasons!

I've had some time to think on relegation though, and think Weinheim will be #5 next season. You are safe man. The DM are in complete disarray since Fatah left, and this will be as close to a gimmie in the GFL1 as you can get. On the other hand, SHU must play the HBD twice, and things are not sounding too positive out of SH. They, like Munich, will lose 2 out of conference games and put them both 2 games behind Plattling who will kill Assinda. And don't underestimate PBH, they averaged 40+ ppg last season, have added a top quality RB, and return the best QB in Germany. Defensively, they have 2 national quality CB now with Reed and Hennek. They added a 330lb NG and possibly 3 LB from Franken to go with Telfair. If Tost is as good as he was in Kirchdorf, they have another Hammer at LB. Plattling is improving, and Weinheim has added a WR. WOW! SH #6, Weinheim #5, PBH #4, and either SS or Munich #3, Marburg will win the South again.

Know football, not really, just a fan! Phantoms GFL1 10!

I hear ya, support your team. i do not know much about the GFL 2 at all. All I know is the newcomers who come and realize that the GFL 1 is completely different, especially when most QB's can read defenses and audible to their receivers and adjust. Plus, there you will find "A"s who actually played their whole lives....not soldiers who are trying to find football again who are athletic enough to run around in the lower leagues. However, 3 quality Qb's in Weisbaden....big whoop. Only one can start. Get out of the 2nd league then we can talk. Like you said, Weinheim beat them straight up 2 years ago and that is all that counts. Marburg got beat up when they first got into the league, and with the help of sponsors and marketing, they were able to form a good team up there. Weinheim will do the same. By the way, they are a mess up there too this off season. The GFL is tricky when it comes to finding local talent mixed with allocated money and fenagling which "A"s will come for the little money they offer anyway.

I know you must have somthing against Weinheim for the way you talk about us....but like I said...wait and see. They are improving their roster and they started by announcing they added their first player publically fairly early. That doesn't mean nothing else is not in the works. It's November dude, be easy...you'll see. The guy they added can play more than one position if you know anything about him, he is a football player, not a receiver and has produced through constant double teams his whole career in the GFL. At 6ft 200 lbs he can line up wherever. Plus he has been in the league for 7 years and knows the players in it. You say WOW, they added a receiver, nah man, they added a new dimension. Next up, a QB. Time, man, time man. What would you suggest, them NOT bring in a A receiver that can read defenses and change his routes on the fly or one that demands doubles and who can down field block? How does that not help? You suggest bring in 2 A Lineman????What, lineman from the states who probably haven't done anything in the offseason but get fat sitting around for a call that rarely comes from the GFL. Germany has plenty of lineman you can mold. I agree with bringing in a Line Coach though.

And who is this best QB in Germany your talking about. Ahhh, you have to be just that...a fan. I dont know who you are referring too and have to only believe that he can ball for stating something like that.....but Adrian Rainbow(Keil) and Ira Vandever (SS) are some pretty damn good QB's and have both led their teams to German Bowls facing real competition (NFLE players, ex-D1, D2. D3, Arena, CFL players, and an array of National players). Yeah, it's GFL football, but you dont find that much talent in the lower leagues on a given matchup. How much GFL 1 football do you actually watch or follow? Come down and checkout some games this year in person.

Funcrush - I hear you, support your team as well! I'll continue to support mine. The Longhorns are no threat to the Phantoms, not next season anyway.

Newcomer's coming into the GFL1, I'd have to say Munich did pretty good showing a first year team can compete in its first season. Last I heard, GFL1 players put on their shoes the same way that GFL2 players do! There are pretty damn good players playing in the GFL2 as well, not so far a fall in talent between the top-tier GFL2 programs and a mid-pack GFL1 team anymore. I will venture to say that Plattling would have won as many games in the GFL1 last year as WL/SH. Franken and Wiesbaden would have won more games than Darmstadt.

The difference in the GFL2 and GFL1 is there are no Konningsbrunn, Kirchdorf, Silver Arrows in the GFL1, every week is a game. Yes, I have taken in my fair share of GFL1 games over the past several seasons I have been in Wiesbaden.

Big whoop on 3 quality QB's, I agree, you can only start 1, but the competition created between 3 starting caliber QB's only makes these guys stronger each year. I am betting with all the A's on Offense, Weinheim would like to have this problem. Wiesbaden will struggle GFL1 because they go for the Soldiers and ex-pats living in and around the area. Were Wiesbaden to go after an Adam Hazel and Andrew Blakely, they would immediately jump to the top of the GFL1, BUT we are hard headed, and want to do it all with Germans circa Munich who also boasts no "Imports" other than Coach Rosenburg. It is a fine philosophy, but one that will net 0 German Bowls, you can't win the GFL1 without imports!

WR creating double teams - I would venture to say that teams might commit a safety over the top of Jackson, maybe if there were someone to throw him the ball. Leland Brickus - GOOD LUCK, he should help out all 4 games he is not thrown out of. Looking for sponsors - he is a HELL of a way to bring in new ones. Rumor has it he took off his helmet and hit a Blackhawks player in the head with it. This led to an ejection. What is confirmed, after the game, the classless chump was smoking a cigarette in the parking lot, flicked his ashes on and spat on a fans car while the fan was trying to leave the game, and refused to let the fan leave the stadium while standing in front of the car. Throw the international #1 sign to top it all off, have fun with him Weinheim. Some dumb ass NFL teams gave Lawrence Phillips a chance in the 90's after beating several women, some NFL team will give Michael Vick a 2nd chance, for Leland, no excuse for his conduct, should be GONE! How many games will Leland be suspended to begin the 09 season?

Best QB, Adam Hazel, HANDS DOWN was the best QB in Germany last season. Rainbow is a legend in Germany, an incredible QB for many season's, but has lost a step. In his Prime, he and Hazel would be 1-2, but did you see the German Bowl??? He's not what he used to be. Ira Vandever is another good QB, but Hazel and the Plattling Offense - awesome, just ask Leland, he was chasing Blakely and Farghali all over the field last season for 2 games, throw in Starzengruber - good luck!

Coming down and checking out games in person. I would watch more if there were good teams in the area to watch. I would of had to go all the way to Marburg last season to see a good game. I was in Darmstadt last season to watch the relegation game, and I took in the Marburg - Berlin game. Work and retirement forced me to miss more games last season than I would have liked. I can promise you this, I will be at the Wiesbaden relegation series next season :) GO PHANTOMS!

I have to very much agree with iltg. Having seen Saarland the former GFL1 team and Darmstadt twice last year there is not much dfference betweeen the top GFL" South teams and the low end GFL1 Teams.
I believe that Darmstadt will end up at No.3 winning their matches against all teams but Franken and Wiesbaden.
Wiesbaden should be able to beat Franken twice so that they will go to relegation and win against either Weinheim or SH.
