Well 50% right and 50% wrong....surprised that BS was so strong Vs. MM.
Enough said, the North rules again and who will be the Champion for 2008.
Last year I really thought that Kiel would win it all, they were young and needed a little more experience and some better player acquisitions. Well they did both and pushed at years end to win the North. Their offense and defense have been solid and have been consistent and in the play-offs I really feel that they went against the best defense in Germany and controlled the game. Berlins offense is suspect but the Hurricanes Defense has some real good numbers behind it and is not to be underestimated for their play by any means.
B. Lions surprised me with their offense this weekend, the running game smashed through MM and was impressive with its gains. The passing attack was relegated to just keep the Merc´s honest in the coverage and really control the game. On the other side of the ball the Defense played very strong and kept JU of balance, even though he had a good passing game they could not make the big plays happen when they needed them and it does not matter what the numbers say, if you can keep the conversions down or nullify the must make plays... "then it really don´t matter" what and how many yards you gain.
It boils down to two factors who will win the GB.
1. Consistent drives on the offense.
which will give Ball Control to that team.
2. The Defense stopping the BIG PLAY!
I really feel that Kiel can do these both and not knocking BS they are more than capable but here are the strengths vs weakness.
Passing- goes to Kiel, better QB, better receivers and can pass on first down and third with ease. The total numbers are very close between these two, but the pass att/comp/INT and TD´s in the air are all solid for Kiel.
Running- Kiel ran against Berlin well, but BS has better numbers but Kiel has better numbers in Rushing Defense and FUMBLE/INT turnover ratio is higher. If you add all these factors I see it as even.
Defense- again Kiel is more solid, the big problem is that they have not been tested in the Play-offs, Berlins numbers were the best that they could manage but again Berlins Offense really sucked this year. BS was tested by Jan and the Boys this weekend and really put a shut down on them as far as crunch time when they stopped the consistent drives of MM. I have to give up to BS.
Special Teams- BS has that in my book
Experience- BS 100%
I would like to say to close to call, but I will say 3 pts will separate the winner and loser, my money is on Kiel...but not if they go into overtime! BS will win this then.
Good Luck Congrats on great season for both teams.
